The Celine Story
Founded in 1945 by Celine Vipiana in Paris, Celine was one of the first French luxury brands, with its beginnings as a made-to-measure children’s shoe boutique.
In 1960, the brand pivoted its focus on ready-to-wear women’s fashion with an emphasis on luxe sportswear, launching clothing, leather goods, and accessories and growing rapidly into the international fashion house it is today.
After Vipiana’s death in ‘97, top fashion designer Michael Kors was named Creative Director, bringing his signature American sportswear glamour to the brand. Today, Celine is owned by French luxury conglomerate LVMH, and its eyewear line operates under Italian firm Thelios.
With Creative Director Hedi Slimane at the helm, Celine has stores all over the world, including fashion capitals Rome, Berlin, Hong Kong and Beverly Hills.
